(Roy’s portfolio is currently under construction)
<aside> 🌈 Roy Yang (he/him) is a product designer, creative technologist, and designer–engineer whose work spans AI-first product design, games, immersive interactive media, and computational making. He currently leads product design at Bytey, collaborating closely with engineers to translate complex AI systems into clear, reliable user experiences. Outside of Bytey, he moves fluidly between interaction design and building—spanning creative coding and physical computing, motion graphics and visual design, web and real-time prototyping, and XR and installation-based practice through independent experiments and Team Echo—blending playful systems thinking with critical inquiry. Across serious games, interactive works, and product experiences, Roy is interested in how technology shapes behavior, public life, and power, using design to make ideas tangible, spark reflection, and invite new ways of seeing and participating. He also teaches and hosts workshops, sharing practical, interdisciplinary ways of building with technology—creatively, playfully, and carefully.

I lead product design at Bytey across mobile and web, from research and UX strategy to high-fidelity prototypes. I own the design system, partner with artists and engineers to ship polished experiences, and design/build our website to support the product beyond the app.
In an AI-first workflow, I operate at the intersection of product design and system design. I work closely with engineering to understand our AI model end-to-end, identify edge cases and failure modes, and define system-level solutions that improve both model behavior and user experience. I convert those decisions into reusable components and UX patterns that make AI interactions clear, reliable, and usable, and I vibe-code higher-fidelity prototypes to speed up iteration and handoff. I’m also designing the ByteyAI web MVP to explore more agentic, AI-focused experiences. I helped bring Bytey from 0 to 1, and the product has been nominated for UX Design Awards Spring 2026 (Product).
